By far my most frequently exhibited project, this social documentary depicts the abandonment and decline of the country’s once-busiest highway, the fabled Route 66, after completion of Interstate Route 40 to the south in 1979.  The work was traveled for three years by the Arizona Commission on the Arts, and was viewed by many diverse audiences.  It was also shown in Israel by the American Cultural Center, Jerusalem, and in the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv.  The photos present familiar landmarks falling into ruin, tattered billboards advertising nothing, and weeds enveloping rusted automobile hulks.
