LL.  Mall Musings, 2012 (28)

“Mall Musings” is a diverse group of photographs made while walking our little dog at a nearby suburban mall.  The images range in mood from the amusing and satirical to the serious and provocative... often “in-your-face,” sometimes mysterious and obscure.  Many utilize hard, contrasty light with  deep, inky shadows - my preferred natural light.  In a general sense, my goal here is to depict rather ordinary objects and scenes in ways not typically seen or experienced by visitors to the center.  Included are photographs of architectural detail, mannikins, shoppers, unusually creative store window treatments, and advertising signs.  The viewer is invited not merely to look superficially, but to linger a bit and attempt to see “into” the images.  Of course, “mileage will vary,” since viewers bring to all images their own unique life experiences, perceptions, preferences and prejudices.
