TT.  Stone Avenue, Tucson

Stone Avenue for decades has been an important gateway to  downtown Tucson from the northern reaches of the city and suburbs.  This photo essay depicts buildings on the east side of the avenue just north of center city, between 6th Street and Prince Road.  Most are commercial, old, and visually interesting, punctuated by more modern (and not so interesting) apartment buildings and restaurants.  The photographs were made in the deep, rich western light of late afternoon, and are part of a long-standing series of urban landscape photo groups presenting the very familiar in unfamiliar ways.
