First Light in the 'Hood evolved quite simply while walking our little dog around the neighborhood in the very early morning hours and taking note of the bright, yet thin and mysterious light bathing homes and their surroundings along the way.  As with other of my projects the intent here is to convey a sense of place and environment in unexpected, sometimes startling ways, although I suppose the work had its genesis in more satirical treatments of suburban lifestyles and architecture produced in the early to mid-eighties ("Suburbia: A Fable for Our Times," and "Urban Development and the Natural (Re)Order").
